About the Theme

Tignay means movement: getting up and acting. The convocation poster echoes the word in several of our languages, among them kilos, galaw, lihok, hulag, hiro, gawa, and kiwas. Whatever language we speak, the call is the same. A church that has truly encountered Christ cannot stay still.

The BEA Convocation 2027 takes up that call under the theme “Tignay: Planting Churches, Transforming Communities.” Building on the Daliasat Discipleship Pathway, it gathers the workers and lay leaders of the Baguio Episcopal Area to move from formation to mission: planting new faith communities and joining God’s work of renewal in the places where we live and serve.

Our theme text is the mission Jesus announced in the synagogue at Nazareth. The same Spirit who anointed him now sends his church to the poor, the captive, the blind, and the oppressed. For us as Wesleyans, this is where personal holiness and social holiness meet.

LUKE 4:18–19

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

The Daliasat Discipleship Pathway

Tignay continues the journey begun with Daliasat. The pathway moves every disciple through four movements.
